March for Malbork

In 1309 year the biggest, most powerful fort in Europe was finished, Malbork - built by the Knights in the occupied Prussian area.

After battle the Teutonic Knights simply moved their back to their stronghold at Marienburg (Malbork) in the north.

17 July King Jogaila with the Polish army, joined by Vytaut with the army of Grand Duchy of Lithuania were marching for Marienburg

Their soldiers were helped by Prussian peasants who wanted to be free from the Teutonic Knights' rule.

Despite this staggering defeat, the Teutonic Order showed an incredible resilience
King Wladyslaw Jagiello did not manage to completely destroy the Knights. And though king besieged Malbork for two months, he was eventually forced to give up. Proper siege equipment was lacking.... ( Malbork Castle)

The Teutonic Knight's strong hold, the army of Livon Order arrived to help them in second part of August.
Around this time, however, artillery first appeared in Malbork, forecasting the decline of knights' castles. A stone cannonball fired by the Poles from the other bank of the river hit the Great Master's palace, where it still remains imbedded today. ( Malbork Castle)
